St Mary’s recognises that children have differing needs.  Our aim is to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all students by providing appropriate and challenging learning experiences for all students. 

Assessment proceudres are in place to identify student learning needs, both through extension and intervention. 

 

Intervention 

Early Literacy intervention is offered through the Reading Recovery Program in Year 1.  This is a daily program that covers both reading and writing and aims to accelerate learning over a maxium 20 week time frame.

Each learning community has a Learning Enhancment Teacher  (L.E.T.) that supports  classroom programing through focus teaching groups and  classroom support .  The Learning Enhancement Teacher (L.E.T.) supports both intervention and extension.
